HARRY HANNAM, MEGA JOB IN THE ROTAX MAX CHALLENGE UAE OPENING ROUND.

Still three weeks to go before the 2021-2022 season’s start but the engines are already fired up and all the drivers ready to go full speed. The Rotax Max Challenge will start on the 9th October at Al Ain Raceway for a 9 rounds season which is promising to be super exciting. Last weekend in Al Ain took place the Invitational Race meeting attended by all the top drivers of each category. This started off the season showing a very high level of skilled and exciting racing that will be seen this year on the track. Our team was fully present at the event with a 3 drivers line up: Harry Hannam and Sofia Necchi in Junior and Reaan Dharmadasa in Mini.
The Junior category is confirmed to be the toughest of the whole field with 16 entries and very hot fights for positions throughout the weekend. The British driver Harry Hannam did an amazing job the whole weekend scoring a P2 in qualy followed by a P2 in the Heat, a P6 in the Pre Final (he got punted off the track when he was leading the race) and P3 in The Final. A stunning performance without any testing day for Harry in the kart and with the team before the event. His team mate Sofia Necchi was also very quick scoring a P3 in qualy but then being pushed off the track twice (Heat and Pre Final). Those two incidents pulled her back to P7 in both races. In the Final she had to stop for a technical problem when she was in P6.
In the Mini category the “novice” Reaan Dharmadasa had the chance to collect more experience before the start of his first ever racing season. After a very impressive P3 in qualy he scored a P3 in the Heat, a DNF for a technical problem and a P5 (after being 3rd for some laps) in the Final.
Very well deserved results for all our drivers albeit with a slight bitter taste in the mouth for missed results. We will be back stronger and more determined ready for the excitement and camaraderie of this season’s racing. The first race of the season will be the 8-9 Oct at Al Ain Raceway (UAE).
